Why does it take so long to change my security settings to (no) password security? (Discontinued)

If you have many files (for example hundreds of Internet Favorites) on your USB Drive and you change the security settings from password protection to no password protection, or the other way around, it is required to first move all these files from your USB Drive to your Hard Disk and then, after the security settings have been changed to move the files back to your USB Drive. So in case you have a large number of files or a slower USB 1.1 connection, it can take a few minutes.
