Enhanced on-the-road protection with Endpoint Protector’s new offline security features and Windows 2008 Server Support
CoSoSys adds temporary offline passwords to its best of breed device control and data loss prevention solution
San Jose, CA, Bucharest, Romania, January 20, 2010. CoSoSys, a leading developer of endpoint security and portable storage device applications, announced today that it has added new offline security features to its endpoint security and data loss prevention application, Endpoint Protector. The new features are meant to offer road warriors a way to stay active and productive when they lack a permanent Internet connection, while keeping the corporate data they carry safer from common portable storage device usage threats that can lead to severe security breaches.
The standard working scenario for client-server types of applications is that the server and client stations need to communicate either through a local network or through the Internet, so that security policies designed centrally can be enforced locally. When traveling for business, employees might be unable to connect to the Internet and still needing to authorize a new portable device – a printer to print out a contract, a memory stick to save a presentation for an event on it. To help them save time and complete their tasks, a temporary offline password can be provided to them by phone. They can then authorize devices for a period ranging from 30 minutes to one week.
“This new feature helps companies in two different manners. Firstly, it enables their employees to do their work on time, preventing unnecessary delays. Secondly, throughout the offline usage of the company’s laptops or netbooks, the file tracing feature remains active and all their activity is monitored and logged in detail”, explains Roman Foeckl, CoSoSys CEO.
Endpoint Protector 2009 is designed to minimize internal threats, reduce data leakage risks and control devices connected at endpoints. It allows IT departments to proactively take control of the devices’ internal use, while tracking all data transferred in or out of the protected network and enforcing encryption of data in transit on portable devices. The new Endpoint Protector version also introduces support for the Windows 2008 Server, completing its range of supported Windows and Linux server operating systems. It is available as a free 30 day trial for Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Mac OS X or online demo at http://www.EndpointProtector.com.
